The Dutch ministry of Defense is buying 14 new Boeing CH-47F Chinook helicopters while at the same time upgrading six current F-model Chinook, it said on Monday 7 September. Eleven CH-47D helicopters will be retired and possibly sold.
The move means that the Royal Netherlands Air Force in the future will have 20 Chinook at its disposal instead of the current 17. The total order is worth 838 million EUR. First deliveries of the new heavy transport helos are expected in 2019.
