As reported here earlier on Airheadsfly.com, the second Royal Air Force (RAF) Boeing RC-135 Airseeker was indeed delivered seven month ahead of schedule on Thursday 4 September. The aircraft arrived at RAF Mildenhall and will be ready for operations within weeks, the RAF states.
Over 60 improvements have been integrated into the second Airseeker compared to the first aircraft, which was delivered last year and currently sees involvement in operations against IS. The improvements concern upgrades to the intelligence gathering aircraft’s mission systems and engine modifications providing increased fuel efficiency and durability.
The first aircraft will also undergo the same improvement at a later stage. A third Airseeker is still to be delivered.
