The CATIC MA-60 transport aircraft of the Djibouti Air Force has expanded its role. The Chinese manufacturer modified the aircraft this year to enable the plane to execute different tasks.
CATIC describes it as a “three-in-one” status. The modifications were made from Mid-January to Mid-February this year, half a year after the MA-60 two-engine propeller aircraft was delivered to the Djibouti Air Force.
The MA-60 is now not only to carry out the VIP transport role, as originally envisaged, but also ordinary passenger and freight tasks. The MA-60 was immediately put to use with 15 transport flying days in a row until 4 March. According to CATIC the Djibouti Air Force MA-60 is the only one of its kind in the “three-in-one” configuration.
