All countries operating the Airbus A400M transport aircraft are to inspect the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) on all engines, according to a Alert Transmission Operator (AOT) by Airbus Defence & Space. The alert follows the fatal crash in Seville, Spain, that most likely was the result of a problem with the aircraft’s engines.
The alert tells the air forces of Germany, France, Turkey, Malaysia and the UK which actions to take prior to any aircraft taking to the skies again. Except France, all operators halted A400M flight operations following the crash, which on 9 May cost the lives of four crew member and injured two more.
The AOT is the result of an internal analysis by Airbus Defence & Space and is separate from the accident investigation team. The AOT was also send to the team.
