Solar Impulse gets ready for world tour

In Abu Dhabi, Solar Impulse is getting ready for the long awaited round the world tour of their solar powered aiacraft. A succesful test flight was completed on Thursday 26 February, with pilot André Borschberg at the controls. The record breaking flight should  start on 3 March.

Solar Implulse was airborne on Thursday for well over 13 hours, which really is nothing compared to the 120 hours the team expects the longest leg (China to Hawai) on the world tour to take. Total flying time around the would is thought to be 25 days, spread over 12 legs.

Speaking of legs: break a leg to the team! More is here, or follow them on Twitter. See the aircraft after landing below.
