The last flight of the Airbus A340-300 in Virgin Atlantic service seems imminent. The planned retirement from the daily flight schedule this Autumn has been moved forward, to coming March.
According to Virgin Atlantic’s updated flight schedule the final A340-300 flight will take place on 29 March 2015, with take-off at Shanghai Pu Dong and landing at London Heathrow. If Virgin doesn’t re-change the planning, that might be it for the 300 series.
Fans of the big Airbus jet will remain happy however, since the newer A340-600s will stay airborne. Virgin Atlantic officially still has two A340-300s, plus 11 A340-600s. The company also flies a dozen Boeing 747s, 10 A330s, 3 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and four Airbus 320 according to the official statistics.
