In what could be filed under ‘One is better than none’, helicopter manufacturer Agusta Westland announced on Wednesday 18 February that the Croatian Police has placed an order for one AW139 intermediate twin-turbine helicopter. It’ll be the first Croatian AW139.
The helo was chosen by the Balkan country after a comprehensive evaluation process of competing bids, proving the AW139 to be the best value solution to meet its demanding mission and safety requirements. The project is co-financed with EU Internal Security Funds 2014/2020.
The Croatian Police AW139 configuration includes a high definition latest generation FLIR turret, HD video link system, searchlight, rescue hoist and a cabin mission console. The helicopter will be operated mainly in border control operations, including maritime tasks. The contract includes a significant training package, including the licensing of six pilots and 13 technicians.
