Qatar Airways embarrassed Airbus on Wednesday 10 December by all of a sudden delaying the acceptance ceremony of the first A350 XWB to the Southwest Asian airliner.
The delay, possibly because of some issues with the interior of the plane, together with a rather doubtful financial prognosis for 2016 made Airbus shares fall 12 percent.
Qatar Airways was about to get its new A350 XWB – a new plane of which the development went remarkably smooth – on 13 December in Doha, but that has now been put off without a new hand-over planned. Airbus is very likely trying to fix things before the end of the year, but insiders doubt if the European aircraft manufacturer will succeed. Eyes were on 2015, but both partners agreed to reschedule the handover for 22 December 2014.
