Russian forces Kyrgyzstan reinforced with Su-25SM

Russian Airbase Kant in Kyrgyzstan was reinforced on 8 December 2014 by five modernized Sukhoi Su-25SM (Су-25СМ; NATO-name “Frogfoot”) close-air support and attack aircraft, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

New on the combat proven aircraft are a digital display, which shows both the ground and air situation, a new fire control systems and Russia’s own satnav system GLONASS.

Kant Airbase is part of the 2nd Air Force Command and Air Defense of the Central Military District. Russia expects to increase its use of Kant in the future.
