Six French Air Force Dassault Mirage 2000D fighter jets are to deploy to Jordan to join the air strikes against the Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL), authorities in Paris stated on Wednesday 19 November. Already taking part are nine Rafale aircraft, operating from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It’s safe to assume the Mirage 2000D fighter bombers will come from from Nancy airbase. France has chosen Jordan to habor these aircraft, as it’s closer to the operating theatre over Iraq than the UAE. This would create possibilities for flying more missions, while also reducing costs.
