As reported here earlier, the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II began carrier trials at sea on Monday 3 November. Two aircraft flew out to the carrier USS Nimitz, which proved it had no problems catching the 5th generation fighter aircraft. Below is a clip of the very first trap of a US Navy F-35C on a carrier at sea, using the Dutch made arrestor hook at the back of the aircraft.
Two more week of trials are to follow, catapult shots included. It marks the first time the F-35C is tested at sea. The US Marine Corps F-35B has already been tested on smaller aircraft carriers.
