India’s largest domestic airline by market share, IndiGo, is planning to buy a whopping 250 Airbus A320neo aircraft. The airliners co-founders Rakesh Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia signed the so-called Memorandum of Understanding on 15 October 2014.

IndiGo has previously placed orders for 280 Airbus aircraft (100 A320ceo and 180 A320neo).

The A320neo – or “new engine option” includes large Sharklet wing-tip devices that together might give a 15 percent savings on fuel costs compared to older aircraft. The A320 Family has now accumulated 11,000 orders. Over 6,200 aircraft have been delivered to 400 customers and operators worldwide.
