Against a background of mounting pressure on the Iraqi security forces from the so-called Islamic State rebels that have taken large parts of the Southwest Asian country, two Polish Air Force C-130E Hercules aircraft have been evacuating staff and hardware from the Polish embassy in Baghdad.

The mission, on request of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was executed between Midnight on Saterday 6 September to Wednesday 10 September, with both aircraft from the 33 Airlift Base in Powidz making two flights each, manned by the same crew on both flights.
