The Royal Saudi Air Force’s five Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft will get upgrades totalling US$ 2 billion, the US State Department and the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced. US Congress was notified of this officially still “possible” sale on 12 August 2014.

Saudi Arabia requested Block 40/45 Mission Computing Upgrade systems, 20 Next Generation Identification Friend or Foe (NG IFF) AN/UPX-40, communication equipment, Mission Planning System and spares for its Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft.

The upgrades are good news for Boeing, which will execute the upgrades directed from its Kent, Washington, facility.
