A Ukrainian Air Force Mil Mi-8 helicopter was shot down on Tuesday 24 June 2014 near Slovyansk in eastern Ukraine, government sources in Kiev have said. Nine persons were killed in the downing of the helicopter, which is said to be the work of pro-Russian separatist ignoring a ceasefire.

On Friday 6 June an Antonov AN-26 tactical transport aircraft was shot down, also near Slovyansk. Three out of an eight men crew were killed. On 13 June, a Ukrainian Ilyushin IL-76 cargo aircraft was shot down by pro-Russian separatists, with the loss of all 49 army personnel on board. The aircraft was on approach to Luhansk airport.
