Ukrainian aircraft manufacturing company Antonov has offered three aircraft to the state, for military purposes, the company confirms.

On 25 April 2014 announced the Antonov company sent a letter to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine suggesting “to give in usage of Armed Forces of Ukraine three transport aircraft – an AN−12, an AN−26 and an AN−32P – to increase mobility of the Armed Forces”. The letter was addressed to First Deputy Minister of Defence, Bohdan Butsa.

In a press release Antonov writes it decided to give the Ukrainian military the transport aircraft, because they are “at the enterprise’s balance” and because of “the complicated situation Ukraine and Ukrainian Armed Forces appeared to be in”.

All three aircraft were overhauled and prepared to be used by the Antonov company itself. Most interesting is the AN-32P Firekiller – designed as a dedicated firefighter but able to be used as a transport aicraft like the AN-12 (“Cub”) and AN-26 (“Curl”).
