The first of ten Airbus A400M tactical airlifter ordered by the Turkish Air Force has been officially handed over by Airbus Military on 4 April 2014. The transfer ceremony took place at the Airbus final assembly line in Sevilla, Spain. The Türk Hava Kuvvetleri will have its own inauguration party at a later date.
The Turkish A400M now handed over is the third production A400M. It will fly to Kayseri Airbase in central Turkey where it will initially be used for training. In Turkish Air Force service the A400M will replace the C-160 Transall.
The maiden flight of the first THK aircraft was on 9 August 2013, when the aircraft was airborne for 5 hours and 30 minutes.
