The first of three brand-new green painted NH90s arrived on October 2, 2013, with 1 Wing of the Belgian Air Component at Beauvechain Airbase near Brussels.

The Belgian armed forces ordered eight NH90s, four green TTHs for tactical transport operations and four grey NFHs for naval operations. The first Belgian army version of the NH90 flew already on September 19th, 2012. The first Belgian NH90 navy flew in the beginning of August 2013.

As part of 1 Wing the NH90 has five main tasks: aid and national support operations, urgent humanitarian aid, armed military response on Belgian territory, evacuation of Belgian citizens from crisis areas and peace operations.
