The Austrian Air Force (Österreichische Luftstreitkräfte) received its first out of three upgraded C-130Ks back from Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group on August 8, 2013.

The UK based company started with the project in August 2012, which is actually only an avionics upgrade. This includes the replacement of the aircraft’s autopilot and radar altimeter systems, software updates to the flight management system, the installation of a stand-by flight display and a barometric altimeter as well as the replacement of analogue flight instruments with multifunction LCD displays.

The next aircraft scheduled for the avionics upgrade will arrive at the Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group site in Cambridge in early September 2013. The last of three aircraft will return modified and all to active service in 2015.
